'Holy s, that's the closest I've ever been to a whale!' Young boy's VERY enthusiastic reaction to hooking a humpback while fishing with his father and his friends
A father-son fishing trip took an unexpected turn after the young boy accidentally hooked a whale.
Glenn Brasen took his son, Nicholas, out fishing with another father-son duo when they spotted a humpback whale right beside their boat, capturing the amazing ordeal on camera.
'Holy s*** that's the closest I've ever been to a whale,' one of the boys can be heard shouting.
'That scared the s*** out of me.'
The whale caught their fishing lines, surprising everyone on board the boat off the coast of Kingscliff, northern New South Wales.
'I don't think he's really happy about getting hooked,' one of the fathers said.
Mr Brasen told 9News there were a few whales 'frolicking around' the boat which quickly disappeared, but soon after one of the whales grabbed the line and the excited fisherman let the line snap.
'We were relatively close to shore, and didn't think they would come that far into the shallows,' Mr Brasen said.
'We've had a few experiences with whales coming up close, but not like that.
'It seems like they get a bit curious and want to come for a stickybeak when they realise a boat is there.'
But the eager fisherman didn't leave empty handed, catching a couple of snapper and jewfish and some 'epic footage' of their unforgettable fishing trip.
