Travellers dump 250 TONNES of rubbish including baths, bricks and fridges on a field leaving land owners with a £100,000 clean up bill
A group of travellers left more than 250 tonnes of rubbish after they were evicted from a field.
Bath tubs, refrigerators and mattresses have been left strewn across the site in Bromley, Greater London.
It is believed it will cost the rightful landowners around £100,000 to remove the waste.
The travellers set up camp in the field earlier this month - provoking protests from residents.
The group stayed for at least two weeks and a dozen vehicles could be seen at the site.
The land owners had to take out a private injunction before the group could be moved on.
But on Thursday morning Bickley Police posted a picture on Twitter of the appalling state of the area along with the caption: 'The travellers have moved on from the site. Sadly they didn't take their rubbish with them #flytipping.'
The photograph showed bricks, wood and bags of rubbish piled high and stretching out across the whole field.
The entrance to the site has now been padlocked and a skip can be seen blocking the gate.
Bickley Police the issue was being investigated by Bromley Council.
