North Korea threatens PRE-EMPTIVE NUKE STRIKE on US as apocalypse fears mount

Tomorrow marks the 64th anniversary of the end of the 1950-53 Korean War.

Many fear North Korea could fire an intercontinental ballistic missile capable of reaching the US mainland, or attack South Korea, to mark the date.

And the trigger-happy regime has now warned it is ready to strike "without warning or prior notice".

The Hermit Kingdom likes to mark key events in history with missile launches or similar acts of aggression.

One of Kim Jong-un's key generals called for the its military to "wage dynamic struggle" to "bring final victory" on July 27 – which is now just hours away, Korean time.

Transporter vehicles carrying equipment for the firing of a ballistic missile were seen arriving in Kusong of the country's northwestern province.

And now Pak Yong-sik, the minister of North Korea's armed forces, has threatened to launch a nuclear strike on the US – even if American doesn't attack it first.

He said: "If enemies misunderstand our strategic status and stick to options of staging a pre-emptive nuclear attack against us, we will launch a nuclear attack on America's heart as the most relentless punishment without warning or prior notice."

The chilling new warning comes after Kim's elite signed a pledge to fight the US.

Officers from the army, navy, air force and anti-air force of the Korean People's Army held an oath-taking ceremony, in which they vowed to fight the US, yesterday.

North and South Korea are still technically at war as the bloody conflict ended only with an armistice, rather than a peace treaty.

The Hermit Kingdom claims the end as a victory as it saw off the US and its communist regime has continued ever since.

Vice-marshal Hwang Pyong-so called for "waging more dynamic struggle to add shine to the history of great victory in the war generation after generation and bring July 27 of final victory as early as possible".
